Environment Trust - Clydebank - Drumry
Drumry Linear Park
The Trust hosted a ‘Celebration in the Park’ event in June 2008 to encourage the local community to become active in the development of Drumry Linear park. Previous attempts at engagement were unsuccessful as this community no longer has an active community group. The event was a great success and contributed valuable information to the park development report funded by‘Investing in Ideas’. The surveys that were conducted on the day enabled the Trust to continue with improvements in the area to increase landscape diversity, biodiversity and Pride of Place.

Development works have continued throughout 2008/09 to improve the vast ‘green desert’
including the following project elements: Landscaping - Earth Mounding was constructed around
the car parks to reduce the risk of cars entering the park area and also utilising surplus spoil from
previous works going to landfill. Increased safety measures were required for the new steps such
as toddler handrail and traffic barriers.
Project Costs: £6,000
A82 Anti-Social Behaviour Project
The Trust has been working in collaboration with the A82 Anti-Social Behaviour Task Group to
tackle the issues of territorialism between Drumry and Drumchapel sometimes leading to road
accidents/injuries on the A82 which divides the communities. This group mainly comprises youth
workers and police but the Trust contributes environmental solutions such as barriers, improving
landscape diversity to include all members of the community and providing recreational facilities
as a means of diversionary activity and encourage wider public use of the area.
As part of this initiative a native hedgerow has been planted along the grass embankment to
prevent youths from running directly across the A82 towards rival youths, improve biodiversity in
the area and reduce pollution from the busy road.
